Penguin Story

This blog is about 6 Lab/Shepherd puppies whose mother was hit by a car and killed instantly. They are currently being bottlefed by a foster family. The puppies will all be named after the Penguins on the movie Happy Feet Two.

Amy received a call on Monday evening (December 5, 2011) asking if we would be able to take in 6 - 1 week old Lab/Shephered puppies. Their mother had been hit and killed by a car and the puppies were left without a mom. Amy called the volunteers who had fed the Chipmunk pups, Scott & Joey and has cared for multiple other animals. She asked if they'd help and the answer was exactly what she figured, "Yes! No, is not an option!" HART's volunteers have taken on the difficult task of round the clock feedings. The puppies are eating every 3 hours and each one is drinking between 1 - 1 1/2 oz of milk right now. This will only increase as they grow. They are going through multiple dirty towels daily, which means lots of washing. We are hoping we can get some donations either by money so we can purchase the items we need for them or by you picking the items up, contacting HART and personally delivering them yourself.

Right now we are in need of:

Canned Evaporated Milk, we use this to mix our own milk up
**Please NOTE** Do NOT get the Sweet and Condensed Canned Milk*

Unscented Baby Wipes
Clothes Detergent
Paper Towels
Puppy Pads

As the puppies age we will need Purina Puppy Chow to wean them gradually to hard food. This won't be for another 3-4 weeks though.

We would appreciate any help that you can give.
If you would like to make a donation in the form of money you can do it via paypal(visit http://hartfoundation.org for more info), mail in a check (email us for the address) or drop it off by HART.
